Well, it was quite the boring week, outside of finally finishing "The Wedding." And then I realized...
This week, I finished doing something for the second time this month, that I hadn't managed to do in it's entirety in more than two years. I read a book. Not a kids book... that's cheating, and there was a point where I was reading those every night. No, I mean actual, multi-hundred page novels. I read all of the book Halo: The Flood, which, while not nearly as good as anything Ringo or Turtledove cranked out, was pretty damn awesome. Second, I read, for the first time, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." You know, I read that and I thought, "why the hell didn't I read this before?" J.K.'s got style. And it was great. And now, on the last day of the month, I'm more than halfway through "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." If time remains on my side in the coming weeks (so not gonna happen) I'll get the rest of the way through the series, and maybe even start for real on the Chronicles of Narnia. Looking forward to it.
"The Wedding" is pretty, and I encourage y'all to go read it. I even fixed the couple of bugs that were pointed out by a kind-hearted reviewer. Next three chapters (WACFSpII, Sins of the Mother, and Sins of the Father) are in the works, between planning stages and some actual writing taking place. Look forward to getting this stuff down for all to read.
The Fantasy RPG at EFN2 is active again, as well. Sure, there's two others that are pretty active (the Buffy one is getting damn cool, and the high school one... just keeps getting stranger), but the Fantasy is where I'm writing. We're up to four authors again (Chris, wherefore hast thou foresaken us?) and has taken one or two unexpected turns. The most fun I think there is to be had within, lies in a thief wanted the world over, riding into a capital city with its former king... looking to raid a bit. Nobles, they're such fun. And, our very own
Last night, my family, and a friend's family went to the Drive-In theater. Man, I haven't done that in 19 years. The last movie I saw at a Drive-In was "Superman III." Yeah... Long damn time. So, we saw "Stealth," which I could have taken or left as far as even bothering to see when I first heard about it. It ended up being really enjoyable. And the second feature was "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Damn, what a cool movie. Go and see that movie if you haven't. Johnny Depp stepped away from being "isn't he that jerkoff kid from 21 Jump Street?" years ago, but it took seeing a few movies I really like him in (Pirates of the Caribbean and Don Juan DeMarco were others) for him to really cement himself as a solid actor in my eyes. Good good stuff. Drive-In was $16 for the six of us to get in (5 and under are free, $2 for children, $6 for adults)... can't touch a movie even with just Mandy and I for under $20... yeah, I had to drive an hour each direction, but dammit, it was worth it. Plus, the side trip to the Penny Candy store... God love that place. They have this candy bar there called the Violet Crumble... It's like a chocolate covered honeycomb. It's pretty damn good. Check that thing out, if you ever see one.

O.O
This pleases me DJ. It pleases me a lot. Expect a review at FP as your reward.Firstly.
You see what I mean about JK Rowling?
Her style is one that is easily accessible to older readers. (I began when I think I was 15 or 16)
I'm ecstatic that you enjoyed the first. (That Hermione hey? She's a smart one) And the good news is Deej, They only become, darker, better, longer and more involved.
Secondly.
You're going to read 'The Chronicles of Narnia' ???
Good on you. I love those books as well. But in which order are you going to read them?
I suggest the proper one, in which they were published. (So 'The lion, the witch and the wardrobe' first) I started with 'The Magicians Nephew' which is first, going by timeline. (like a prequel)
We must discuss when you've finished. *nods*
And Lastly.
I can't wait to read what Nick and DJ get up to. And am I the only one that thinks Mina and Ardeth snark is hilarious? I mean, the poor guy just keeps ruffling her feathers in the worst way possible.
I'm going by what you said above, that you like Orcacia?
Thankyou. I was worried about joining in as we have some exceptional witers partaking. Yourself included. (Incidently, I first came upon the Dryad while reading the Chronicles of Narnia) She actually features in my own Fantasy story I'm working on.
And shock? Oh God. I'm afraid the Tree Spirit can only take so much.

Re: O.O
It was great. I mean... wow. I can't imagine what I was thinking in not really wanting to read, and waiting for the movies to come out. I got past it though.I was gonna read them chronologically. Mandy fills me in on the order that I need to read them. I did start the Magician's Nephew a few months back, but I didn't get very far. Dinner, or something.
Oh, I'm loving the Mina/Ardeth circus. Tons of fun, it is. I'm not quite sure what I'm gonna have the boys do yet, but I'm sure it'll be inspired hi-jinks. DJ is kinda known for that sort of thing.
Oh, I do like her. She's kinda cool. And you've got plenty of talent there (ya'll keep saying such nice things about me) on your own (the suit of armor was brilliant).
Dryads... I've read about 'em in the D&D compendiums, but I don't remember a whole lot about them. And the poor girl thinks Mina is a demon...
I dunno, naked chick strolling into her space, is that a bit shocking?

Re: O.O
Yeah I thought the armor bit was cute too. (Glad it achieved the effect)^_^I'm use to making up characters with all sorts of snark and high-ranking powers. This is probably the tamest one I've thought up in that respect. (Though methinks Orcacia is pretty much oblivious of what exactly she can do)
I'm having a blast.
Like vampires, I think the mythology surrounding Dryads is open for interpretation. (Thats my interpretation of them anyway)
You'll catch glimpses of them in Narnia.
And just a tad shocking. With all the unwanted magical guests that place has seen, I think Mina's coming to expect it.

C&TCF was bloody brilliant. My review for the movie is up as well at my review account. /pimp
I think I read the entire Vampire Chronicles within a couple months.. I've read them all at least twice now, except for Merrick, Blood & Gold, and Memnoch the Devil.

I'm looking forward to Narnia. Mandy read it several times, and says it's one of the best things she's read.
